Flagship Models was started by Rusty White when he purchased the company "Lone Star Models" and upgraded their line of Civil War era ships to include Photo Etch and updated castings. He then continued offering those kits under his brand. He added to the line with new kits, accessories and various other products through the years.

Rusty White passed away in January, 2023 and his kids sold his company. The Flagship Models brand will continue with all of Rusty's kit and also with new products being added to the range.
